Knock! Knock!

Knock! Knock!
Spirits are like vampires to me; neither exists so far I am concerned. But the last few weeks as left wondering. First, it was Ossai our neighbour_ he claimed he heard voices, the next day he kicked the bucket. According to his parents, they didn’t hear any sound from his room. Ossai’s death started a chain of unavoidable deaths that hasn’t been abated. A part of me still clings tightly to the idea that spirits don’t exist. I think the dead people died because they believed in spirits. Maybe that is just me trying to convince myself that I am not frightened.

If spirits are fake how do I explain the uniform manner in which people have died? First, they start hearing voices, then a woman appears to them in a trance, once she appears to you, your body is paralyzed. You see the woman but you can’t mumble words. Then when she appears the next day, you are history. This has gone on for months.

My parents have advised me to come home_ as I do with any piece of advice I have received in the past, I toss it like trash. My youth service was ending in a month and I wasn’t going to throw away everything like it didn’t matter. The night she came I had armed myself to the teeth. I fortified my room with my Goya anointing oil. That didn’t stop her from attacking me though. I was fast asleep when my eyes suddenly opened. It was as though my eyelids were glued, I couldn’t move them. Something heavy was weighing me down, I couldn’t move my body.

I felt a hand on my neck, she was gentle at first, then she began pressing my neck hard. I couldn’t see through the thick darkness. Beads of sweat were popping out of my brow, I wanted to shout: Jesus! But I couldn’t force the words out.
‘Jeeeeee.’
I couldn’t breathe and my eyes were closing_ I had given up, then:
“Knock! Knock!”
Someone was at the door.
Suddenly, it was as if I was in the middle of a whirlwind. My room began shaking, it continued for a few minutes and ceased. The spirit vanished. I was still trembling. I went to the door, I unlocked it and I saw no one.

      1. This is precise and straight forward, i like that the writer passed his message across without sounding like he’s doing too much.
        Beautiful one Victor
