Christmas Miracle

CHRISTMAS MIRACLE
I moved to Samuel Alakija Street recently. I got a job with the Tribune newspaper. My news blog was no longer enough. I wanted more. I was a popular blogger so getting the job was a piece of cake. My blog gave me an edge over the multitude that applied for the exalted position. My appointment letter indicated I was to resume the following week.

I moved into my new home on Friday night. The best time to move in the ever-busy town of Jos. I arrived at exactly 10.00 PM. I off-loaded my load from the car and slept off in the midst of my belongings scattered everywhere.

The next day I moved around to acquaint myself with the neighbors. My closest neighbor was Rose, who was absent. The other neighbor wasted no time in telling me she was a reserved lady. she loved her space and wasted no time in putting people in their places. Emeka said he was also a victim of her venomous words.

I later met Rose whom I immediately liked. I discovered she was a very hardworking woman. She was surprisingly friendly towards me. She had a mini library close to her living room, which endeared me more to her. we chatted for long before I asked her about a book in her library, which she said was her favorite. Coincidentally it was mine as well, she told me she didn’t believe me. She asked a series of questions, which I answered. she asked me how I was able to comprehend so much from the book, that led us to Jim kwik and his speed reading program. It became our routine to discuss current and previous books read.

Now Christmas was around the corner and I was on annual leave. I was the only single person among my friends. I was tired of the constant ribbing and I felt Rose would fit the bill perfectly. I had one prayer in mind, ‘lord if this girl is right for me let her accept to go on a date with me.’

On Christmas Day, I decided to ask her out. When I reached her door, she opened and after the usual salutations, I lost the courage to tender my suit. As I turned to leave, she told me: ‘say what is on your mind. I had a dream that you would ask me out.’ I was surprised. I wasn’t going to let this golden opportunity slip by. I asked Rose to go on a date with me and she immediately agreed, she said: ‘I have been waiting for this for a long time.’
I tried my luck despite what I heard and it paid off.
